History:

Itimad-ud-Daulah is a mausoleum built by Nur Jahan, wife of Emperor Jahangir. Nur Jahan built this tomb in the memory of her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg in 1628 A.D. You may include this tourist attraction in your Delhi Tour Packages.

Architecture:

A beautiful white marble monument laid with semi-precious stone,exhibits a strong Persian influence. The structure is square in plan with octagonal towers,use of exquisitely carved floral pattern, the inset work shows the beauty of the Islamic style. Instead of a dome, a closed kiosk is on the top of the building and there is a use of chattris attached to its corners. The tomb is surrounded with numerous outbuildings and gardens. The main gate is on the eastern side. The garden is divided into four equal quarters.
