Chini ka Rauza

An historical monument known as a funerary monument is the “Chini ka Rauza”. Constructed on the left bank of the Yamuna River. It is a tomb of Shah Jahan’s Prime Minister Afzal Khan Alami entitled “Mulla Shurkrullah Shirazi”. Before becoming the Prime Minister he was a famous Persian Poet during Jahangir’s reign. History:

Architecture:

It exhibits fine use of glazed tiles. The tomb is influenced by a single dome while the enamelled tiles reveal a strong Persian Influence. It is one of the best specimens of  polychrome glazed tiles decorated in India. As many years have passed, the beauty of the monument has weakened. The various types of enamel colours have worn away from tiles.
